Boosting One Another

Mike Selix, Pharaoh of all Sciotry stated, "The Sciot members of the world's newest Sciots charter (Los Angeles Pyramid 59 AEOS) "LA59" have demonstrated an outstanding effort in masonic charity. They displayed to the masonic community that one can reach across from one appendent masonic body and help a totally different masonic body in the others' fundraising. Basically, the Sciots in Los Angeles raised $5,000 to benefit the Pasadena Scottish Rite's Childhood Language Center, RiteCare Pasadena. Our purpose is Sciotry is to Boost One Another and of course Boost All Masonry."

The jumbo check was well received by the Pasadena Scottish Rite's Personal Representative Illus. Rees Padfield, the retired Air Force Colonel and current top mason at the PSR as appointed by Illus Frank Loui, 33°, the Sovereign Grand Inspector General in the Orient of California. On stage for the check presentation and visible in the above photograph is the Sovereign Grand Commander of all of the Scottish Rite in the Southern Jurisdiction of the United States, James D. Cole, 33° in the bottom right corner. Also present on stage wearing a blue jacket is Mike Selix, Pharaoh of all Sciotry. It was a historic event attended by the top representatives of both Scottish Rite and Sciots.

The event itself which preceded the check presentation (that was the key in raising the funds) was a Food Festival showcasing top chef's in Los Angeles that prepared Italian, Armenian and Mexican food. Much of the food was donated free of charge to the efforts as was the labor. Many volunteers were on hand to administer the event and ensure it's success. The current Toparch of L.A. Pyramid 59, Frank Barbano along with fellow LA59 Charter member Giuseppe Ariola of Ariola Imports spearheaded the event. "This is only the beginning, we plan on doing much more for RiteCare Pasadena as well as our own in house charity, the MIND Institute for Autism at UC Davis". -Giuseppe Ariola.
