Los Angeles Pyramid No. 59 of the Ancient Egyptian Order of Sciots proudly announces the success of its recent charitable campaign, “Time to Donate,” which raised $4,000 in support of the Sciots Foundation and its mission to fund autism research.
The “Time to Donate” fundraiser offered supporters a unique incentive: for every $50 contribution, donors were entered into a drawing to win a luxury timepiece. The prize—a like-new, steel Rolex Datejust with a fluted bezel—was generously donated by Past Toparch Frank Barbano of L.A.59.
The campaign gained traction, attracting 80 individual $50 entries. On Saturday, October 20, during the L.A. Sciots’ annual installation ceremony, the winning ticket was selected in true Sciots fashion—from within a traditional Sciots fez box. The draw was conducted by none other than Ron Alcorn III, Past Toparch and Pharaoh of all Sciotry, who blindly pulled the winning number. The prize went to Past Master and fellow Sciot Haik Hairapetian.
In November 2024, P.T. Barbano represented L.A.59 at the Sciots Supreme Sessions in San Jose, where he officially presented the $4,000 donation to the Sciots Foundation.
The Sciots Foundation remains committed to improving the lives of individuals and families affected by autism, with a strong focus on children. The Foundation supports groundbreaking research that enhances understanding, diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of autism and related neurodevelopmental disorders.
A primary beneficiary of these efforts is the UC Davis MIND Institute, a world-renowned research center uniting families, scientists, physicians, and educators in pursuit of answers and effective treatments for Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD), Fragile X Syndrome, ADHD, Down syndrome, 22q11.2 Deletion Syndrome, and more.
Los Angeles Pyramid No. 59 meets monthly on the third Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at 1900 N. Vermont Avenue, Los Angeles, CA 90027. New members and visitors are always welcome.
